The end of the year is usually crowded with occasions, holiday seasons, and amazing offers. One of the remarkable discounted days is Black Friday which always occurs on the fourth Friday of November.  In fact, many retailers would start their offers way before Black Friday, and some would start warming up by the end of October, so what is Black Friday?

Black Friday is used to describing the following Friday after Thanksgiving, where huge discounts and offers take place. It originated in the US and spread worldwide to become a common practice.

At Al Romaizan, we participate in celebrating the end of the year and Black Friday as well. Therefore, our gold necklaces ranging from 18k-21k will have exclusive offers during this time. In addition, you will also enjoy great discounts on our gold sets, gold rings, traditional gold bracelets, hairpins, and much more.

Since Black Friday is a great sale and is all about having a great shopping experience, we would like to brief you more about gold in jewellery to be knowledgeable about it before buying gold in Dubai.

While scanning the gold collection, we can see gold in different colours, as gold comes in yellow, white, grey, rose, red, black, green and purple. Some of these colours you may have never come across or heard of, but all exist and are of gold. But how are they made?

Since gold is malleable metal in its purest state, it is hard to use it in jewellery. Therefore, other metals are added to harden gold, such as silver and copper. This process has resulted in changing the original gold colour and led the way to colour gold by adding various metals. Colouring gold is usually made by prepared alloy. Below are more details about the colouring process.

Yellow gold

Yellow is the natural colour of gold, so the purpose here is to maintain the original colour, not change it. In order to do so, the use of other metals should be done properly with an accurate dosage of each added metal. For example, 22k is 91.7% pure gold with 5% silver, 1.3% zinc and 2% copper. Whereas 18k gold is 75% pure gold and 12.5% copper & 12.5% silver.

White gold/Grey gold

For whitening the gold, whitening metals are used, such as palladium, nickel or cadmium. However, the final colour is more like light grey than white. White gold usually comes in these karats 21k, 18k, 14k, and 9k.

Red and rose gold- known as Russian gold

Colour alteration from red to rose gold depends mainly on the concentration of copper. Playing with the amount of copper used will result differently and range from red to pink or rose gold. The more copper used, red gold will result, and the less you use, the lighter the colour you get. For this type, the popular karats are 18k, 14k, and 9k.

Green gold or electrum

This type of gold naturally exists with a combination of gold and silver. The colour ranges from gold to light green. However, in order to get pure light green colour, some jewellers add copper and zinc alongside gold and silver. It usually comes as 14k gold jewellery.

Black gold

This kind of gold might be rare in jewellery but quite popular in other usages. It is made by a surface treatment of grey gold or using cobalt alloy with gold before heat treatment. It comes in 18k gold jewellery with grey, white, and black rhodium surface treatment.

Blue gold

Blue gold is like black gold, very exotic but rare in jewellery. The alloy used for 18k blue gold is 24.4% iron and 0.6 % Nickle added to the 75% pure gold. Then, this alloy is heated to oxidise the iron and get the blue colour. So blue gold jewellery can also come in 11k gold jewellery.

Purple gold

In jewellery, purple gold is used in the incrustation of gold jewellery. It is usually used in 19k gold jewellery.
