Tips on how to take your ring measurements at home

I have a 21k gold ring that I bought in a hurry, I like it so much, but it is too big. It might not sound like a big problem, but I think it ruins the experience of wearing it for me. It can fall any minute; wearing it outside and cleaning my hands is risky. This sad venture made me take precautions before buying any gold ring. I will take my ring size accurately before any purchase. However, not all gold shops offer the service of taking measurements. Also, I might want to shop online.

Here are a few tips on how to take ring size measurements at home:

1.          You can buy a kit of ring-size fitters. It is accurate to some extent. It works well with rings of 4mm in width.

2.         You can measure with a size chart: Print the size chart from the internet. Verified charts are available for free on the internet. Bring a string; wrap it around the selected base finger. Put a mark on it. Measure it and choose the nearest measurement on the ring size chart to discover your ring size.

3.          Measure a gold ring you have, and its size suits you well. Get a measuring tape and take the measurements of the inside of the ring, then use the printed measurement chart. 

4.         If your knuckles are larger than your base, make sure to take the measurements of both places. Then use the printed measurement chart to choose a size in between.

5.         The time and heat might alter your results; warm fingers are bigger in size than cold fingers. Fingers are smaller in the morning and bigger in the evening. Take measurements for your ring before sleeping and when your hands are warm.

6.         Repeat your measurements several times. The matching results are probably the right ones, and you want to eliminate the chance of inaccurate measurements.

These tips might make your measurement process seems like hard work, but actually, it is not. It is a very easy, simple process that will save you time and money in the future.
